My Miniblog
In the life of a writer, sometimes lots of things happen all at once, and sometimes, nothing happens at all. Here is my mini blog: Everything I can write when I have a free minute.
Well, "Duly Constituted Authority" is now available for the Kindle reader at www.amazon.com. I am restricting for the Kindle for the time being so I can take advantage of the Kindle Select program - check it out. At the risk of sounding a bit self-promoting (doesn't every author?), I think it's a good read.
I am currently working on the second book of a trilogy entitled "In the Name of the Sun," a mix of science fiction and "spy thriller." As a voracious reader of both genres, I always wondered how it would be to combine the two. The phrase “James Bond meets Star Wars” comes to mind but that’s overly simplistic. What I came up with was more in the line of Tom Clancy meets Harry Turtledove. Imagine the United States space program in the late 21st century, plodding along but still nowhere near where anyone from the previous century would have believed. Imagine further a fanatical cult of the followers of Ra, the Egyptian sun-god, who believe man in space defies the wishes of Ra and desecrates his space and who attack the space program at every opportunity. To counter this threat, the Special Operations Section of the United States Space Force enlists the aid of Colonel Roman Castello, a sort of 21st century super-cop, to bring down the “sunlovers.” Let the adventures begin! More to come . . .
I am seriously considering removing "Duly Constituted Authority' from the Kindle Select Program and making it available for other formats (Nook, Smashwords, etc.) - watch this space . . .
The price of "Duly Constituted Authority" has been reduced from $5.99 to $4.99 at Amazon.com.
As of 5 August, I am removing "Duly Constituted Authority" from Amazon's Kindle Select Program (KDP). I am starting the formatting process for Smashwords and hope to have it complete by the 5th, whereupon the book will be available on Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Sony, etc. I have had no luck with KDP whatsoever - they allow you to "promote" the book by giving it away for a few days, the idea being word will get around and then Kindle Prime members will "borrow" it, giving the author a piece of the monthly "pie" (a set amount of money set aside for KDP authors) - all I've seen is my books given away for free and that was it! So, I will now expand Duly's horizons, so to speak.
The formatting process for Smashwords is almost complete and I hope to have "Duly" available for all the other ebook formats within the next 24-48 hours.
It's done! Now available on www.smashwords.com. Check it out!
20 Aug - I'm having a devil of a time submitting "Duly" to Smashwords' premium distribution system. They keep finding "errors" (i.e., something not compatible with theer system). Once this is done, "Duly" will be available on Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Diesel, Apple (iPad, iPod), and others. Watch this space!
22 Aug - Finally "Duly" has been approved for Premium Distribution on Smashwords.com - it will take a few days but it will soon be available Barnes & Noble, Sony, Apple, Kobo, Diesel, Page Foundry, and Baker-Taylors. In the meantime, it cna be purchased at Amazon.com and on Smashwords directly.
1 Sept - Smashwords still hasn't "shipped" Duly to the distributors so I don't know when it will be available on Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Diesel, etc. It has been shipped to Apple for all the "i" gizmos. In the meantime, it is available for purchase at Smashwords.com and Amazon.com (Kindle) - type in the title in the search box and you'll find it.
26 Sept - "Duly" has shown up so far on Kobo - still waiting on the others.
17 October - still having trouble getting "Duly" on some of the ebook stores - in the meantime, I've reduced the price from $4.99 to $2.99 so when it finally shows up on B&N, Sony, and the others it should be at the reduced price.
29 November - Finally! "Duly"is now available for purchase at the following distributors:
Amazon.com
Barnes & Noble.com
Smashword.com
kobobooks.com
diesel-ebooks.com
ebookstore.sony.com
It should also be available at the Apple iStore.
18 December - I am now on 10 Pitches where authors get 60 words to pitch their work - check it out!
A good place to pick up some great reads - short pitches for good books - check it out: http://10pitches.wordpress.com/
And MERRY CHRISTMAS!
26 December:
Feeling lousy today - one of our two cats died last night. No prolonged illness, no evidence of injury, he just keeled over and expired. RIP Whiskas, 2003-2012 - you were a great cat and a great companion. I miss you.
Whiskas - c.2003-2012 R.I.P.
I am now a Smashwords Affiliate which means I can sell other authors' works on this website - see the "Links" page for a couple of suggested titles.
7 March 2013
47 years ago today I joined the Army! (Showing my age - obviously.) Also it's snowing. In New England. BIG surprise :)
4 April 2013 - Another "Hub"article published today, this one on ballistic missile defense. Funny, I consider myself to be primarily a writer of fiction but lately it's been primarily articles!
10 June 2013 - in an effort to increase sales I am now pricing the two novels and the short story compilation at just 99 cents!
